Itxaso is an Investment Partner for Microsoft Ventures. She is based in London and is responsible for the investments in Europe. Previously, Itxaso was a Principal at Lepe Partners where she led investments in venture growth companies in digital media and consumer technologies. Prior to that, she was at EC1 Capital investing in early stage startups and helping them build and commercialize their technologies. Itxaso is a Kauffman Fellow and holds a BSc and MSc in Engineering as well as a PhD focused on Economics and Venture Capital. Dr. Claas Heise
Executive Director @ NRW.BANK
Since 2008, Dr. Claas Heise is responsible for Venture Capital Investments and Early-Stage Financing at NRW.BANK in Düsseldorf, Germany. There, he heads up the venture capital activities of NRW.BANK, including the management of several venture funds focused on the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia that together now have more than 45 investments. He is also responsible for investments in European venture capital funds and manages fund-of-fund activities sponsoring now 12 regionally focused seed capital funds.
His responsibilities extend to the Business Angel network of NRW.BANK, called WIN, with now more than 200 active business angels, and to a co-investment fund for business angels investing in start-ups in the state. And, there’s also the Venture Center, where advice and guidance is being given to high-tech founders from universities and research labs.
From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Heise has been a partner at Innovature Capital Partners, an advisory and venture capital / secondary services firm based in the Silicon Valley, California. From 2002 until September 2006, he has been the Managing Director for T-Venture of America, the U.S. arm of the Corporate Venture Capital unit of Deutsche Telekom / T-Mobile, based in Foster City, CA, USA.
Dr. Heise joined Deutsche Telekom in 1995 in Germany and held a variety of management positions. He helped found the Enterprise Software start-up TRAIAN in late ’99 and joined TRAIAN in October 2000, where he led the partnership business development efforts.
He joined T-Venture in Bonn, Germany in 2001 as an investment professional in the Internet and Media area, after serving as an outside advisor to T-Venture already since 1997.

Based in Singapore, Simon established Foodpanda, operating across eight countries in Southeast Asia as a global founder and CFO. Relying on his own entrepreneurial experience and an extensive background in web development, Simon then helped to launch Paymill as Chief Product Officer, an online payment service provider for developers. After 10+ years as CEO of PriceRunner, one of Europe leading price comparison sites, Peter gained a lot of experience in the internet sector while expanding the company at high margins. Dr. Ralph Eric Kunz has more than 20 years of experience as entrepreneur and investor as well as in top-level management on a global scale. Today, he runs Catagonia Capital, a technology investor and digital company builder.
Ralph’s true passion is building up companies in the technology and digital economy space and helping other entrepreneurs to make such companies successful.
With tyntec (www.tyntec.com) Ralph co-founded his first successful company. Today, tyntec is one of the leading Communication-Platform-as-a-Service players globally and one of the three US inter-carrier vendors for A2P messaging. He also co-founded Deutsche Messe Interactive, a joint venture with Deutsche Messe AG, responsible for leading trade shows such as CeBIT and the Hannover Industrial Fair. The company, having become a leading player in B2B lead generation in the German speaking markets, was later fully acquired by the JV partner. More recently Ralph co-founded Vibraneum (www.vibraneum.com), a company offering cybersecurity services to enterprises using a next generation technology platform.
On the investment side, Ralph’s investment firm Catagonia Capital has had successful exits with Kind Digital Entertainment (unicorn, sold to Activision Inc), Euroimmun AG (unicorn, sold to PerkinElmer), Reparando (sold to Applause), and Autoda (co-investment with Rocket internet, sold to Meinauto).
Previously Dr. Kunz held senior executive positions with King Digital Entertainment, Nokia Corporation, Bertelsmann and the Boston Consulting Group. At King held lead the M&A team and contributed towards the sale to Activision. For Nokia he introduced GPS, street maps and turn-by-turn navigation to Nokia’s handsets on a global basis. The division he created and ran, now called HERE, in the meantime has been purchased by the German premium automotive labels Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. For Bertelsmann he co-ran the company’s corporate venturing arm, after having conducted an IPO of an internet-related business on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 1999.
Dr. Kunz was born in Germany and spent his childhood in the US. He studied physics and political sciences at the University of Chicago and the Berlin Institute of Technology, where he earned a PhD and Master with summa cum laude, respectively, in both fields. An author of numerous scientific articles in renowned journals, he holds several patents in the telecommunications space and is a frequent conference speaker.
Dr. Kunz lives in Berlin with his two sons and charming wife. He is closely connected to the city and is an active contributor to the local technology and business angel scene, which has been influenced in part by the Nokia alumni in the city.
