Mark is a Managing Director and Head of European Primaries Investing. He has over 30 years of experience evaluating, selecting and monitoring private equity fund investments and sits on several private equity fund advisory boards. He has been closely involved in the design and implementation of the British Venture Capital Association’s annual performance measurement survey since the pilot study in the early 1990s. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham.
Fabian Wasmus

Fabian Wasmus joined Vitruvian, a leading tech- and healthcare-focused European growth fund, in 2017. Here he is heading the DACH office in Munich and being responsible for growth investments in the technology, business services and healthcare sectors. Prior to Vitruvian, Mr. Wasmus was a partner with EQT, focusing on TMT/digital, consumer and business services as well as healthcare-related investments in the DACH and Nordics region. Prior to joining EQT, he worked at MCap Finance investing in German mid-cap companies, as well as for KPMG within the corporate finance team. In the course of his career, he has also co-founded an internet start-up. Fabian has more than 16 years of relevant Tech, M&A and Private Equity investment experience.
Maurice Hernandez

Maurice Hernandez joined Accel-KKR in 2007 and is based in the firm’s London office where he leads buyout and growth equity investment activities across Europe. Prior to joining AKKR, Maurice was a member of Deutsche Bank’s Mergers & Acquisitions team where he was involved in a variety of mergers, acquisitions and buyouts focused on the software and technology-enabled services sectors. Maurice previously worked at Needham & Company where he worked with emerging growth technology businesses on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising. Earlier in his career, Maurice also worked at Excite.com, a leading Internet search engine and services portal. Maurice is involved with AKKR’s investments in Kerridge CS, Kimble, One.com, Reapit and Smart Communications. Maurice was involved with the firm’s past investments in Clavis Insight (acquired by Ascential plc in 2017 for $130 million), HighJump Software (acquired by Körber AG in 2017 for $750 million), Zinc Ahead (acquired by Veeva Systems in 2015 for $130 million), Endurance International Group (acquired by a private equity consortium in 2011 for $1.0 billion), iTradeNetwork (acquired by Roper Technologies in 2010 for $525 million) and Saber (acquired by EDS, later Hewlett Packard Enterprise, in 2007 for $460 million). Maurice received a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.
Francesco di Valmarana

Francesco is a senior member of Pantheon's European investment team and a member of the European Investment Committee, the Co-investment Committee and the Global Credit Committee. Francesco was previously with Unigestion, where he managed the firm’s global secondaries programme. Prior to Unigestion he was a partner and co-founder of the European venture capital firm DN Capital, having spent three years prior to that as part of the European investment team at Advent International. He has a BA in East Asian studies from Princeton University and received an MBA from Insead. In addition to his native English and Italian, Francesco also speaks French. Francesco is based in London.
Rainer Effinger

NORD Holding (or “NH”) founded in 1969 is one of the oldest PE firms in Germany and has over $1.5 billion AUM. NH makes fund investments, co-investments and direct investments. Since 2000, NH has fully raised and committed three Fund-of Funds and is currently committing Fund IV. The latest Fund “Micro-Cap Fund V” targets funds or fund-like structures with sizes below €100mio in Western Europe. NH helps to create operationally driven, “hands on” managers aiming to set up their own fund and has generated a net money multiple of 2.7x on its micro-cap investments. Mr. Rainer Effinger (49, German) joined NORD Holding in 2002. He has been responsible for the fund of funds activities since 2006. Prior to NORD Holding, he worked for a consulting Firm, as well as Media Group. In these positions, he was responsible for growth –, restructuring – and M&A projects in Germany and several Eastern European countries. Mr. Effinger holds a Master degree in economics from the university of Bonn.
Alexander Frolov

Alex founded Target Global in 2012 and has been actively involved in building the organization ever since. He leads the firm's late stage investment practice and has invested in many successful marketplace companies. Amongst these, many are positioned in the FoodTech space, such as Delivery Hero (FRA:DHER) and Blue Apron (NYSE:APRN), as well as Lemoncat and FoodFox (acquired by Yandex). Alex's recent focus is directed towards transportation and travel investments: Juno (sold to Get), Dreamlines, etc. Prior to joining Target Global, Alex worked at the VC firm DFJ Esprit in London. Before that, he led several private and corporate startups in the tech field, including the medical business unit of United Corporation for Innovations. He started his career in asset management, running the public market tech & telco fund. He holds a bachelor’s degree from London School of Economics and Political Sciences and an MBA from London Business School. Additionally, Alex holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Benedikt Kronberger

Benedikt Kronberger, Partner at btov, joined the firm in 2011 and is responsible for the management of new and existing investments. Benedikt studied international business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, international management at the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS), and public administration in international development at Harvard’s Kennedy School. Prior to btov, Benedikt has worked in corporate development for the Austrian oil & gas company OMV, and in M&A for Rothschild. Marie-Helene is an industry expert having obtained extensive experience in the Telecom field during her 13-year career in several marketing and general management positions. Most prominently she was CEO and President of the Board at VIPnet - Croatia’s first private mobile phone network. In her last corporate position she was the Director of Corporate Sustainability at OMV, a EUR 42B public integrated international oil and gas company, headquartered in Vienna. Since 2014, Marie-Helene is partner of Speedinvest - one of Europe's leading Venture Capital Funds with EUR 200M Assets under Management and a portfolio of over 100 investments. Speedinvest is a pan-european brand that invests in seed stage technology start-ups.
Broes Langelaar

Broes Langelaar is a Principal in AlpInvest Partners’ Co-Investment team, where he is responsible for sourcing, executing, and monitoring equity transactions in Europe. He joined AlpInvest Partners in 2005 in the Portfolio & Risk Analysis team and moved to Co-Investments in 2008. Broes received a Master of Civil Engineering from Delft University and an MBA from Erasmus University.
Jean-François Le Ruyet

Jean-François Le Ruyet is a Partner of the Quilvest Private Equity team, co-managing the US/Europe co-investments and funds programs with a focus on buy-out in Europe. Jean-François is a member of the Quilvest funds and co-investments Investment Committees. He also sits on the Advisory Board of various PE funds. Prior to joining Quilvest, Jean-François gained seven years of management and strategic consulting experience with Bain & Company as well as later with McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, Jean-François worked with several European Private Equity funds in various industries, in particular, the media and consumer goods sectors. His assignments included strategic and market due diligence, and merger and acquisition valuations. Prior to his consulting career, Jean-François worked for two years at Société Générale in São Paulo, Brazil. Jean-François is a graduate of HEC (Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales) and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
David Jeffrey

Mr. Jeffrey leads StepStone’s activities in Europe and is a member of the private equity team, focusing on investments in Europe and the Middle East and co-investments. He is also involved in the Firm’s ESG and diversity initiatives, as well as various investment and management activities. Prior to joining StepStone in 2012, Mr. Jeffrey was a managing partner at Parish Capital where he founded the firm’s European and Asian practices and oversaw the secondary and co-investment businesses. Before that he served as managing director of Bank of America’s European private equity group. Previously, Mr. Jeffrey was a managing director and head of BancBoston Capital’s European and Asian operations. Mr. Jeffrey received an MA from Cambridge University and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Craig MacDonald

Craig MacDonald joined HarbourVest in 2005 in Boston and transferred to London in 2009. He focuses on originating, evaluating, and executing direct co-investments in growth equity and buyout transactions, primarily in Europe and has worked on investments including CallCredit, Flexera Software, LeasePlan, Nordax, Photobox, and Xpressdocs. Craig joined the Firm from Morgan Stanley in New York where he was an analyst focusing on consumer finance. Craig’s prior experience also includes investment banking analyst positions with Citigroup Global Markets in New York and London. Craig received a BA in Political Science and Information Systems (with honors and distinction) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2001, where he was a Morehead Scholar.

Raphael Rupprechter

Raffael Rupprechter is a partner and the CFO at Cross Equity Partners. He has more than 8 years experience in private equity. In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Raffael has overall responsibility for all matters relating to accounting, tax, reporting and regulatory compliance for the Cross group entities. Furthermore, Raffael was involved in several transactions such as the investments in WDM, punker, Rademacher and Micro-Macinazione as well as the divestments of Schwab Verkehrstechnik and spirella. Raffael studied at the universities of St.Gallen (Switzerland), ESADE Barcelona (Spain) and EGADE Monterrey (Mexico) where he obtained a master’s degree in banking and finance as well as a CEMS Master’s in International Management.
Pekka Mäki

Mr. Mäki is the Managing Partner of 3TS and is primarily responsible for general management of 3TS. Previously, Mr. Mäki was the Managing Partner of Red Catalyst Ltd., a strategic business development consultancy and an investment boutique. He has also been an entrepreneur and executive in management consulting and with advertising agencies across Central and Eastern Europe and in Finland. A true European Mr. Mäki speaks five languages and has studied at Helsinki University of Technology, IESE Business School in Barcelona, Universidad Complutense in Madrid and Wirschaftsuniversität in Vienna.
Stefan Hamm
Managing Director @ Tyrol Equity
Dr. Stefan Hamm is co-founder and member of the management board at Tyrol Equity AG. At the same time Stefan plays an important operational role at the investments of Tyrol Equity. He currently holds the position of CEO in the SAV Group and is responsible for managing the Program Office. Between 1999 and 2005, he founded and ran IVP Management GmbH, where he was responsible for the areas of restructuring and interim management for ailing small to medium-sized businesses. After the merger of IVP and Fairwest AG into the Concentro AG, he was a partner and director at Concentro AG. Dr. Hamm was responsible for corporate finance and M&A. Prior to this, Dr. Hamm was with Roland Berger and Partners for seven years in various capacities, ultimately as an Associate Partner in Sao Paulo/Brazil. Dr. Hamm started his career at Ernst and Young in Washington/DC as a Consultant on flotation issues and procurement of venture capital for United States technological companies. He studied Business Administration at the University of Saarbrücken and the London Business School, and completed his Doctorate at the University of Innsbruck.
Karl Lankmayr

Karl Lankmayr is Managing Director of aws Fondsmanagement GmbH and aws Mittelstandsfonds, the entrepreneurial growth equity fund in Austria, which offers equity capital and mezzanine investments for innovative small and medium enterprises. In addition, he holds various supervisory board positions in mostly technology-focused companies. Previously he was co-founder and managing partner of Noreia Capital, a leading M&A consulting and investment company, as well as CFO of a large steel trading company operating in CEE. Furthermore, he has 10+ years of Investment Banking and consulting experience gained at companies such as Raiffeisen Investment, PwC Corporate Finance, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and McKinsey. Travis Pittman, co-founder & CEO of TourRadar, is an Australian who has lived in Vienna for the past 10 years. His engineering background and love for travel and technology led him to building a category leading online marketplace where travelers can easily compare and book multi-day tour experiences to over 200 countries. He leads a team of 165 people globally, with the Headquarters of the company in Vienna and offices in Toronto and Brisbane. To date the company has raised US $68m in funding from investors in Europe and the US.

Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and board member of Ustream, a US-Hungarian video startup sold to IBM in 2016. Widely recognized tech entrepreneur and startup figurehead in Hungary and CEE, angel investor and regular speaker at regional tech and entrepreneurship conferences. Has given guest lectures at the Technical University of Budapest, Corvinus University and Stanford.
Oliver Holle

Oliver founded his first tech startup as a university student in 1997, long before the terms “Mobile”, “Entrepreneur” and “Startup” even existed in the European mainstream. In 2003, he pivoted his company from interactive simulations to mobile content distribution, merging it into 3united AG to become a leader and innovator in the mobile content space. After a successful exit to Verisign, the leading internet security company, and several years at their Silicon Valley location, he returned to Austria with the goal of creating a business angel platform, and later raising €10M to found Speedinvest. Today, Si is one of Europe’s leading venture funds with €200M in capital, several successful exits and a portfolio that includes notable startups such as Bitmovin, Wefox, and Tourradar. Oliver is dedicated to revolutionizing European venture capital by providing strategic advice and operational experience to the next generation of entrepreneurs. Speedinvest currently runs offices in Vienna, San Francisco, London, Berlin and Munich. The main investment targets are Deeptech, Fintech, Marketplaces and Healthtech.
Jason Ball

Jason is a Managing Director at Qualcomm Ventures in the UK, focused on software and services. He led the team’s investments in Arteris (acquired by Qualcomm), We7 (acquired by Tesco Plc.) and Videoplaza (acquired by Telstra). Other recent deals he’s managed include Blippar, BitBar, Grand Cru, Peak, Wrapp and Yplan. Prior to joining Qualcomm Ventures, Jason was an Investment Director at London Seed Capital, an early stage VC fund, where he focused on internet technology investments. He holds a BS in Chemistry from Mississippi College and an MBA from ESADE. Jason is an avid surfer, skier, free-diver and cyclist. He was recently selected as one of the top investor bloggers by Venture Village and CB Insights.
Christian Claussen

I joined VENTECH/Paris in 2013 as the firms fourth Equity Partner with the mission to spearhead our investment activities in the DACH region, operating out of our Paris and Munich offices. Since then I am spending a good part of my time proactively seeking investment opportunities in exciting high-growth companies in the DACH region. Cologne-based Picanova (web-based mass customization for wall decoration products), Berlin-based TV Smiles (Second screen loyalty program), Munich-based Speexx (blended learning solutions for large corporates), European Games Group (next gen F2P Online Games Publisher) and FinTec Systems (Real Time Financial Data Access) are among our current portfolio companies in Germany. Rather exceptionally I led the series A round for a California-based semi-conductor company. Looking back on 18 years of hands-on innovation financing I personally invested about €120m with Ventech and as a former Partner with TVM Capital/Munich-Boston (1998-2008) and OMNES Capital/Paris(2009-2013). This included lead/co-lead investments into Tantau Inc. (NSDQ: 24/7 Systems), T.I.M.E (acquired by Genesys S.A.), Telesnap (acquired by Netwise AB), CoreOptics (acquired by Cisco), Silicon Hive (acquired by Intel), Netviewer (acquired by Citrix), Definiens (acquired by MedImmune), Arteris (1st gen, acquired by Qualcomm), Plista (acquired by GroupM), Netzoptiker (acquired by MyOptique Group), Trusted Shops (Certification- and Confidence Solutions for e-Tailers), Turtle Entertainment (Digital Media Group for e-Sports, acquired by the Modern Times Group), TennisPoint (Europe's leading Tennis-Sport and Apparel e-Tailer), , Trust You (SaaS-Provider for Online Reputation Management). Volker Hirsch

Volker is a Partner at Amadeus Capital, one of the leading European deep-tech VCs, where he looks after their Early-Stage Funds with a focus on AI, Human-Machine Interfaces (including AR/VR) and Industry 4.0. He previously invested as an angel investor and has a portfolio of a dozen technology companies, including Pi-Top, Bibblio and Wonde. He is an entrepreneur who founded/co-founded a total of 7 companies so far. He is a co-founder of Blue Beck, a 50-strong mobile development firm with 400+ person-years mobile software development experience. Volker also acted as a Venture Partner at Emerge Education, Europe’s leading EdTech accelerator, and is the Chairman of Bibblio. He has extensive board experience in EdTech, AI, IoT, Travel, Advertising and Gaming and is a co-founder of Tech North Advocates, a non-profit initiative seeking to aid the evolving tech ecosystems in the North of England. Volker is also a frequent keynote speaker at technology conferences and corporate events around the world. Previously, he was the Chief Strategy Officer at Scoreloop (a mobile social gaming platform with, at its peak, 450m users), which was acquired by BlackBerry where he subsequently acted as its Global Head of Games. Volker is a corporate lawyer by original profession.

Dr. Andreas Nemeth joined UNIQA in 2011 as Head of Group Controlling in charge of group-wide strategic planning, performance and cost management along with executing M&A and Corporate Finance transactions. Since June 2016 Dr. Nemeth was announced Head of Group Strategy & Innovation to drive radial Innovation enabling UNIQA’s vision 2030 and leading the UNIQA Ventures Team implementing the Venture Capital strategy and Start-up collaboration. Prior to joining UNIQA, Dr. Nemeth worked for Allianz SE for almost 10 years in different executive roles predominantly in Sales and the P&C business of Allianz Austria. Pavol Cekan

Dr. Pavol Cekan is an innovative leader with over 15 years of experience at the top research and government institutions. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Iceland in 2009, worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Rockefeller University for 4 years, and later at a premier cancer research organization - National Cancer Institute (NCI) for another 4 years. Pavol has 35+ scientific publications, is the inventor of 4 patents, and is a member of the Science Advisory Board of the Slovakian Ministry of Health. Jan Tauber

Prior to 1989, Jan Tauber worked in various economic positions in Czechoslovak manufacturing companies. In 1990, shortly after the collapse of centrally planned system, Jan became an advisor to the Czechoslovak Minister of Finance. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in origination, structuring, and execution of high profile corporate finance and equity capital transactions. Uli Grabenwarter
Deputy Director - Equity Investments @ EIF
Uli Grabenwarter, is Deputy Director - Equity Investments at European Investment Fund (EIF). In this capacity he oversees EIF’s activities in Impact Investing, Technology Transfer and Venture Capital, with EIF being Europe’s biggest Fund-of-Funds Investment platform in that space. Previously he was responsible for EIF’s strategic development in the equity space and in this context has led the build-up of the Social Impact Accelerator, the first pan-European social impact investing fund-of-funds. From 2010 to 2012 he conducted a 20 months research project on impact investing in collaboration with IESE University of Navarra in Barcelona and the Family Office Circle Foundation based in Switzerland, analysing best-market-practices for impact investing in the private equity and venture capital space. He is a visiting Professor for Private Equity and Venture Capital at IESE University. He regularly publishes articles and white papers on venture capital and impact investing. Uli is also chair of the European Impact Investing Luxembourg think-tank platform (www.eill.lu) and member of several expert groups on impact investing and impact metrics across Europe. Uli holds a Master’s degree in Business and Finance of the University of Graz.
