Head of Private Equity @ Unigestion
Christophe de Dardel, Managing Director, is Head of Private Equity, a member of the Private Equity Investment Committee, of the Global Research Commitee and a member of Unigestion’s Executive Committee. He was most recently Head of Portfolio Management within the Private Equity team. He joined Unigestion in January 2001. Christophe previously spent more than ten years on several continentsat the Société Générale de Surveillance, a global inspection and testing group. He then established and ran the Swisscom Venture Fund, a corporate fund aimed at financing entrepreneurial initiatives of Swisscom collaborators. Christophe holds a Degree in Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.

Ross has built a market leading position for Kreos in Europe and the UK. Ross focuses on identifying, assessing and managing transactions across Europe and the UK as well as participating in the management and execution of Kreos’s overall strategy.
Prior to Kreos, Ross spent 10 years in a number of roles within American International Group (AIG) including Vice President of Operations for AIG Europe focusing on developing marketing strategies for 14 countries. He also worked directly with the CEO on several internal projects including: Executive Information Systems, internal consulting roles, management development and the launch and divestment of a software company. Prior to joining AIG, Ross spent two years at American Airlines’ helping to build the industry’s first yield management systems. Ross joined American Airlines from Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned an MBA. Previously, in undergraduate school, he was part of a team at the University of Texas Business School that pioneered research into successful high-growth companies. Ross has a BA in Business from the University of Texas.

David Boal is a Managing Director and Head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Siguler Guff. Based in London, Mr. Boal leads Siguler Guff’s European business.
Prior to joining Siguler Guff in 2015, Mr. Boal was a Managing Director at The Abraaj Group, where he led the firm's European fundraising and client coverage team. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management responsible for institutional investor coverage. During his tenures at both Credit Suisse and Abraaj, Mr. Boal specialized in the marketing and distribution of private equity and infrastructure investment products. Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr. Boal was a Managing Director of the global equity boutique at Perpetual Limited, an Australian investment management company. Prior to Perpetual, Mr. Boal served as a Managing Director and head of the London office at Bank of Ireland Asset Management. Previously, Mr. Boal was a Director and head of sterling bonds at J.P. Morgan's London office, where he had fiduciary responsibility to the Bank of England for the firm's primary dealer. In addition, he led the distribution of debut sterling issues for sovereign borrowers including Hungary, South Africa, Greece and Russia. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Mr. Boal was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he helped establish the firm's UK gilt business. Mr. Boal began his career as an Economist in the strategic planning division of Shell International Petroleum.
Mr. Boal is a trustee of Find Your Feet, a non-governmental organization working in rural communities in Asia and Africa. He has served on the Bank of England working committee for gilt market reform and as a trustee of the Credit Suisse Foundation.
Mr. Boal holds a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Queen's University Belfast and an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

David Barbour is the Managing Partner of FPE Capital LLP. FPE Capital LLP is an established growth capital investor in the UK lower mid-market, having made 12 investments to date, with revenue growth of over 100% across its portfolio. The firm’s Fund II was closed at £101m in October 2017 and two investments have been made to date. The focus is on high growth UK based companies with a technology enabled B2B focus. David started his career in the broadcast media and became a lawyer then investment banker at Robert Fleming and JP Morgan. Before joining Creathor Venture, Karlheinz Schmelig worked as an investment director at 3i Group plc and before that as an investment manager at the Technologieholding VC GmbH. Karlheinz Schmelig studied business in Mannheim and received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University. Dr. Christian Nagel is Co-Founder and Partner of Earlybird and based at the Berlin office.
Christian has more than 24 years of entrepreneurial and investment experience. He was Chairman of the Board of Tipp24 AG (Prime Standard Frankfurt Exchange: TIM) and Interhyp AG (Prime Standard Frankfurt Exchange: IYP), which returned more than 50x the original Earlybird investment. Up till the trade sale to SMSC (NASDAQ: SMSC) he also served on the board of BridgeCo AG (Zurich).
He is currently on the boards of CrossEngage (Berlin), N26 (Berlin), ShapeShift (Zug/Denver), smava (Berlin) and Tradico (Munich).
Prior to founding Earlybird in 1997, Christian, together with a group of investors, acquired various companies from the Treuhandanstalt (the former East-German state holding) and gained operational experience. He was a shareholder and an Executive Director of HNP Präzisionsteile GmbH & Co. KG, SMB Industrieholding GmbH, DH Industrieholding Hohenthurm GmbH and a number of other subsidiary companies of these holding companies.
Previously, Christian worked as an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. Inc. focusing on restructuring, strategy and M&A projects within various industries.

Michael Sonnenshein joined Grayscale Investments in January 2014. Deputy Director - Equity Investments @ European Investment Fund
Uli Grabenwarter, is Deputy Director - Equity Investments at European Investment Fund (EIF). In this capacity he oversees EIF’s activities in Impact Investing, Technology Transfer and Venture Capital, with EIF being Europe’s biggest Fund-of-Funds Investment platform in that space. Previously he was responsible for EIF’s strategic development in the equity space and in this context has led the build-up of the Social Impact Accelerator, the first pan-European social impact investing fund-of-funds. From 2010 to 2012 he conducted a 20 months research project on impact investing in collaboration with IESE University of Navarra in Barcelona and the Family Office Circle Foundation based in Switzerland, analysing best-market-practices for impact investing in the private equity and venture capital space. He is a visiting Professor for Private Equity and Venture Capital at IESE University. He regularly publishes articles and white papers on venture capital and impact investing. Uli is also chair of the European Impact Investing Luxembourg think-tank platform (www.eill.lu) and member of several expert groups on impact investing and impact metrics across Europe. With over 20 years in the industry, Tony is an experienced investor and has also advised numerous public and private equity businesses. In December 2014, Tony became CEO of Gresham House and brought in a new management team that has transformed the company from an investment trust into an AIM listed specialist asset management group.
Tony started his career at Phillips & Drew Fund Management (later UBS Global Asset Management), one of the UK’s most prominent value investment firms with £60 billion in assets at its peak. He was a member of the UK Equity Investment Committee with responsibility for managing over £1.5 billion of UK equities.
In 2002 Tony founded and became CIO of SVG Investment Managers and CEO of SVG Advisers (formerly Schroder Ventures (London) Limited), the global private equity funds business and specialist alternatives manager. He established and led the growth of SVG Investment Managers, before launching Strategic Equity Capital plc, a London listed Investment Trust in 2005.
Tony currently Chairs the London Pension Fund Authority’s Investment Panel, which oversees £4.6 billion in AUM. He is also an Independent non-executive of JP Morgan Private Equity Limited plc, and advises St Edmund College’s Endowment Fund.

Prior to co-founding Medicxi, Kevin was a partner with Index Ventures for 12 years, having joined the firm’s life sciences team in 2003. Kevin spearheaded Index’s very first experimental asset-centric investment, in PanGenetics, which was later acquired by Abbott Pharmaceuticals. He is currently chairman of Levicept Ltd., Apcintex and Crescendo Biologics as well as being a board member of several other startups.
Prior to joining Index, Kevin was with Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT), where he was appointed Head of Research in 1994 and, in 1997, Research Director and Chief Technology Officer. He led the development of CAT's platform technologies and their application in the discovery of a number of human antibodies, two of which are now on the market: Humira (Abbott Pharmaceuticals) and Benlysta (GlaxoSmithKline). Kevin was part of the management team that floated CAT on the London Stock Exchange; it was subsequently acquired by AstraZeneca.

Simon manages the EMEA investment team and is responsible for all of Hermes GPE’s private equity investment activity in EMEA, overseeing the sourcing, due diligence and monitoring of EMEA funds and co-investments. Simon is based in London, previously having gained experience of working in the US private equity market. Simon has 18 years of private equity experience and was a founding member of the Hermes GPE predecessor organisation, Gartmore Private Equity, which he joined in 2002 and where he was latterly Deputy Managing Director. He is a member of the Hermes GPE Investment and Management Committees. During his time on the Investment Committee in excess of 140 co-investments and 90 fund investments have been completed. The Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) was established in December 2014, with a statutory mandate to invest on a commercial basis in a manner designed to support economic activity and employment in Ireland. The ISIF is valued at c. €8.1billion and is available to invest in Ireland as suitable investment opportunities arise and are developed. The dual objective mandate of the ISIF - investment return and economic impact - represents a new approach to investing and will require all investments to generate both investment returns and economic impact in Ireland. The fund has the flexibility to make investments across the capital structure of companies and projects, both debt and equity, and across a range of investment types and sectors.
Fergal was previously Managing Director at AIB Corporate Finance, one of Ireland’s leading corporate advisory firms. Over the years he has led a wide range of investment transactions including M&A, buyouts, debt refinancing’s and IPO’s. While in AIB Corporate Finance, Fergal was seconded to the SMU within the Department of Finance which has responsibility for the completion of the restructuring of the banking system and managing the State’s shareholding in the banks and disposals thereof. In his earlier career Fergal worked as a Technology Equity Analyst at Dolmen Securities and as a Senior Scientist at Optronics Ireland. Fergal has an MSc in Physics from DCU and a PhD in Physics from Trinity College.

Seonaid Mackenzie has had an award winning 33-year career in the City with positions including stockbroker, fund manager, an operator of UK funds; fund raising for private companies and funds; and multiple non-exec of financial service firms and SMEs. Sturgeon took a new active business line in 1999 and became the pioneer coining the phrase "The Regulatory Incubator" for financial services known by some as an FCA Umbrella, or Regulatory Hosting Platform, taking the AR/Tied Agent into a wholesale market in 2003. In 2013, Sturgeon Ventures became an Investment Advisor with the SEC and in 2014 a sub threshold AIFM (Alternative Investment Fund Manager), laterally an EU VECA manager in 2016. Ms. von Niederhaeusern has more than 20 years of experience in the private equity and corporate finance industry. Cian Cotter is a Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners. He joined Insight in 2003 and leads the firm’s capital markets and capital formation activities.
Cian manages Insight’s inbound deal flow from the banking sector and maintains relationships with the global investment banking and capital markets communities.
Cian also focuses on creating strategic outcomes for Insight’s portfolio companies including IPO planning and execution, recapitalizations and M&A advisory. He leads Insight’s relationships with strategic acquirers in the software and Internet sectors and helps strengthen corporate and business development activities on behalf of Insight’s portfolio companies. As part of Cian’s leadership of Insight’s capital formation activities, he is responsible for Insight’s relationships with potential and existing investors.
Cian sits on the boards of Fenergo, Mediaspectrum, Nymbus and Studio Moderna.
Prior to joining Insight, Cian was a Product Marketing Manager with Canon, Inc. and a Product Strategy Manager with Cable & Wireless, plc. Cian has a BBS from the University of Limerick, Ireland and an MBA from HEC, France.

Mr. Schneider is a member of the Executive Board at NORD Holding and responsible for the European fund and co-investment activities. Mr. Schneider has been with NORD Holding since 2011. Prior to NORD Holding, he worked for Credit Suisse in London, where he was focusing on European fund and co-investments. Prior to that, he worked at William Blair's London office advising on Mergers and Acquisitions. Mr. Schneider studied Economics (MSc.) and Law (LL.M). He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. He speaks Dutch, English, German and conversational Spanish.

David is a Managing Director and Co-head of Co-investment. He is also Chairman of the firm’s Clean Energy Infrastructure Investment Committee in respect of certain existing investment mandates. He has over 30 years of experience in private equity and infrastructure financing. Prior to joining us, David worked with GE Capital in the UK and US, as well as with GE's European private equity businesses. Earlier in his career, he served as an adviser to AXA Private Equity and established the European business of First Reserve Corporation, prior to which he was with BP Ventures’ solar photovoltaics business. David serves on the board of directors of the Major Projects Association and is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. David holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering, each from the University of Southampton, and an MBA from the Cass Business School of City University London.

Elaine has over 24 years of experience in scaling technology companies; including successful realizations through IPOs and M&A. Elaine is a Founder and Managing Partner of Atlantic Bridge a Global Growth Equity Technology Fund with over €1bn of assets under management. She is also a founder of Summit Bridge Capital which is aimed at helping European companies scale in China. Summit Bridge is backed by China Investment Corp (CIC) which is the World’s 4th largest Sovereign investor and Irelands Sovereign Wealth Fund, the NTMA.
Prior to founding Atlantic Bridge, she was founder and director of Glonav, a GPS company that was acquired by NXP for $110 million. Elaine served as CFO and Vice President of Finance for three successful technology Nasdaq IPOs − Parthus, IONA and Smartforce – that realized more than $5 billion in value for investors. She is currently on the board of China Ireland portfolio companies FieldAware, Novaerus, and formerly on the boards of Acision (2014 refinanced with Blackstone, 2015 acquired by Comverse), Sophia (acquired by Boxfish), and Bridgeco (acquired by SMSC 2013). In 2014 the Irish Government appointed her to the Board of Enterprise Ireland the Agency responsible for Enterprise. In 2016 the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Oman, Oman Investment Fund, appointed Elaine to the board of the Oman Technology Fund. Elaine is a Council Board member of the Institute of Directors. Neil is a Director and Co-Head of Investments with MML Growth Capital Partners Ireland. He led MML’s investments in IdentiGEN, Prim-Ed Publishing, Fastway, SONAS Bathrooms and Travel Department and represents MML on the boards of these and other portfolio companies. Prior to joining MML Ireland, Neil spent 5 years as an Investment Director with FL Partners. Neil started his career with PwC in Dublin, later spending eight years working in investment banking at HSBC and Bank of America in London before relocating to Dublin with Goodbody Corporate Finance. Neil is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and graduated with a MAcc and BComm from University College Dublin.

Théodore Economou is the Chief Investment Officer for Multi-Asset. He joined in February 2015.
Prior to joining, Théodore was CEO and CIO of the CERN Pension Fund, where he initiated a risk-based approach that came to be known as the CERN Model. Previously, he was assistant treasurer of ITT Corporation, managing pension assets and liabilities worldwide as well as the firm’s capital markets activities, from 1993 to 2009. He began his career as a consultant at Accenture’s Financial Services Group in 1987.
Théodore is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Virginia Retirement System, and served as secretary of the European Commission’s RESAVER Task Force for the establishment of a pan European pension fund. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from EPFL in 1987. He also holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management 1993, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Eamon Devlin, Managing Partner at MJ Hudson, has extensive experience in co-investments and fund formation, advising fund managers and institutional investors on the structuring, establishment and operation of investment funds.
His clients include Access Capital Partners, Adams Street Capital, Backed VC, DN Capital, Graphite Capital, LGT Capital Partners, HM UK Government, Newbury, Maven Capital Partners, Schroder Adveq, and Stonehage Fleming.
Eamon formed and leads the Firm’s LP Unit – a team of lawyers focusing on acting for investors with one goal – to enhance manager / investor alignment on every co-investment and fund reviewed and negotiated. Formed in 2015, the LP Unit now represents over 125 investor clients.

James is an Investment Director on the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund’s Innovation Team with a primary responsibility for the fund’s venture capital portfolio. The ISIF, Ireland’s sovereign development fund, was established in 2014 with a statutory mandate to invest on a commercial basis to support economic activity and employment and with its scale and long term outlook, it is very well placed to support and capitalise on the opportunity set in high growth emerging Irish technology and life science companies. Today it holds c. €600m of commitments across some 30 VC funds and a further c. €100m exposure to patient capital platforms dedicated to early stage investments. The ISIF is also building a portfolio of direct co-investments alongside VCs into high potential scaling opportunities with potential for long-term transformative impact in Ireland. Prior to working with the ISIF, James was a member of the investment team of the National Pensions Reserve Fund, a globally diversified Irish sovereign wealth fund that evolved into the ISIF in 2014. James holds a BSc Theoretical Physics and an MSc Computational Science from University College Dublin and is a CFA Charterholder.
